Really interesting community; feels closer, more political, than slashdot.

Slashdot is prolly the start of a nerdy community.

blogs & language - QuickTopic bulletin board

OK, here's the experiment with QuickThread and this blogs & language post.
QuickTopic: free bulletin boards (message boards) and collaborative document review groupware

Free bulletin board running. Seems cool.
  markoff.tk

More technical - interesting, though. Very opinionated guy!
  EasyBlog

EasyBlog looks like Anasoft big competition in CZ. In Czech/ Slovak (?), also easy instructions in English.

Seem to be an offline/ upload system. Maybe I'll try it in Slovak? Has to be later, though.
essays :: weblogs: a history and perspective

Nice history of blogs through 2000. Really good note on the evolution of a person's personal voice. What is a blog?

"Blogs offer the human voice, which can be loud, controversial, and even wacky. But the realness of the blog inspires trust and piques people's curiosity. A blog can create a community and a dynamic discussion." Adapting Blog Technologies to Corporate e-Newsletters

Hi, I'm starting a new blog ABC Weblog in Slovakia, which will become an article next week, I hope, in the Slovak Spectator. And beyond.

Orson Scott Card wrote a great book: Ender's Game, which included a sub-theme of two young siblings (the third was winning a space war, main theme)becoming world leaders through "the networks" and their excellent on-line personnas (Demosthenes and Locke). I think real name reputation is going to be more important, but the meme spreading is real (axis of weasels has died down; Bush lied, people died hasn't yet, might not). I think blogs got rid of Raines.

[Have you read Cory's story of whuffie (?), karma type ratings for good deeds, good words?]

You noted above (from Harry's place) the Italian paper. The news fanatics will be looking for the best summaries, and most interesting special analyses. Blogs & the web.

OS Card also has a fine forum, with different advantages to blogging; and disadvantages. As are k5 (kuro5hin) and slashdot, with ratings of comments and story voting.
  Harry's Place

Darn; this is the idea I wanted to push at the Slovak Spectator!

But at least now the SS won't have to be a total pioneer.
The Italians did it first!

A weblog, a blog, is an internet tool that allows you to keep track of where you’ve been on the Web, what sites/ pages you have visited, and what was interesting and/or why you’d want to come back. It's a list of hyper-links, clicking on any of which will take you back there--with your own optional opinions about that site. It can be available on either the web or on an internal intra-net. But it’s those opinions and links which make a blog so interesting. I created a blog for this article:

What, when, where, how, and why.

abcweblog.blogspot.com
What, when, where, how, and why. Get a blog. Y not? Mozno bude zaujmavi. (Maybe it will be interesting [in Slovak] - but diacritics in description fail, ž č š ť)

Comments by enetation. This weblog is my own exploration of cool tools, how to write a weblog, WHY to write a weblog, etc. I'll try to publish it, but will be writing it first. Here. ... goes.
A weblog is, blogs can be, anything, any site on the web. But Blogs are cool. Because they're Personal. And they Link to each other. And they are Updated frequently. Usually every day, with the most recent blog post/ journal entry on top. So folks keep coming to visit their favorites, and follow some links to their favorites' favorites. Or not. PLU; nope. PUL? Personal, updating, linking; editing? Pule; it could catch on.
